Early one morning, I was in the Everglades with a birding group. While the group watched a Great Blue Heron,
I felt something big fly overhead. I looked up into a palm tree to see a magnificent Pileated woodpecker. She
hopped around the tree into the sunlight streaming from the back side of the tree. As quickly as she appeared,
she flew off and disappeared into a thicket a few hundred yards away. I tried to signal the group, but they were
too slow to get this SUNRISE SIGHTING.
