               My intention was to capture the play of light within the feathers of this magnificent male swan.  As
I approached the small pond where the female was sitting the nest, he swam toward me.  As I 
stepped back he would swim away.  Eventually, I maintained a respectful distance and set down
the field sketches and notes used to re-create this image.  This painting was purchased by the
LEIGH YAWKEY WOODSON ART MUSEUM in Wausau, Wisconsin for their permanent collection.
